Welcome to Point Lookout Nippers (Junior Activities) |
|
Point Lookout SLSC, on North Stradbroke Island, is one of Queensland's few island-based Surf Lifesaving Clubs.
|
|
Nippers at Point Lookout runs for a full day each Saturday during the surf season with a break over Christmas and New Year.
Parents and Nippers are transported to the island by barge with road transport provided by buses. All travel is subsidised making it an affordable fun day out for the whole family.
A BBQ lunch is provided at low cost at the club house and Nippers are provided with a morning tea of fruit on the beach.
Getting to nippers is as easy as 1, 2, 3. You simply catch the barge with the rest of the Nippers at Cleveland,
travel on the Club buses to the beach and the rest is pure enjoyment.
It is an inexpensive sport for your children to be involved in (see membership and beach fees) and a fantastic
alternative to travelling long distances up or down the Coast to be involved.
The trip on the way home is a great social event where the children and parents get to relax and chat
about the day or the weather.

|
|
The major objective of Nippers at Point Lookout is to enrich the lives of children through fun, involvement;
and the acquisition of personal and lifesaving skills in a safe aquatic
environment.
|
|
The Nipper programme is a training ground for future lifesavers and the children enjoy activities
aimed at building lifesaving and leadership skills in a fun environment.
Membership is open to all children aged from 5 - 13 yrs (age taken as at the 30th of September each season).
The children, train and meet formally from late September through to April.
Every Saturday the activities kick off at 7.30 am sharp at Stradbroke Ferries to be on the 8:00am Barge.
|
|
As well as a focus on surf and beach skills, education and skill development, Saturdays at Point Lookout are a great
opportunity to catch up with friends and enjoy the beautiful beach and fantastic weather.
Competition is available to all age groups with competitions held on both the Gold Coast and at Point Lookout.
Some children may be selected to compete in a State team against other nippers from around the State.
Nippers are encouraged to attend the weekly swimming training sessions held at the Ormiston College pool to
improve their fitness, confidence and strength in the water.
